Veterans Park of Heroes: Events

The Veterans Park of Heroes will be proudly presented by the West Springfield Lions Club in November on the West Springfield Town Common. Row upon row of flags will be displayed with a tag on each flag containing information about a Veteran or dedicated to a group of Veterans of one of the United States Armed Forces.

Individuals, families and companies can sponsor a flag in honor of a veteran. All are welcome to walk through the flags, read names, listen to and share their stories of themselves, family members, friends and others who have given in many different ways so we are able to have the freedom to celebrate our flag. We will offer college scholarships to children or grandchildren of Veterans who attend school in Hampden County with the funds we collect. The Veterans Park of Heroes serves as a reminder and a tribute to Veterans who have served or are presently serving our country.

The Park of Honor will include 3 foot by 5 foot American flags and will be on display starting October 16th through November  14th, 2021.  Hampden County residents and businesses are invited to sponsor anyone they would like to honor with one of these keepsake flags. Your honoree and sponsor name will be displayed on a tag with each flag. Gold Sponsors will be identified with their name on the Sponsor Banner and up to 10 flags for their honorees.  Platinum Sponsors will be identified with their name on the Sponsor Banner plus two individual signs and up to 10 flags for their honorees. The deadline to order is October 5th.  Please plan to pick up your keepsake flag November 14th, between noon and 1:00 p.m.

Please contact the West Springfield Lions club at westspringfieldlions@gmail.com with any questions.
